The Trevor Project
The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth. They contacted Drupal Connect for a theme update that was richer in design and functionality, as the existing design needed some polishing. Drupal Connect was able to stay under budget and finish this theme upgrade right on time before The Trevor Project launch party.
Front Page
The biggest noticeable change in design was the front page. Previously, it was a simple front page with no sidebars, with the main content being a simple view for content or a video placement and advertisement. We upgraded this to include both a left and right sidebar, with the left being the primary location for the menus and the right for blocks and advertisement. The front content is changeable to be a video or both content placement and a video. It now also includes a section for the latest blog posts, news, and Twitter updates.
Aesthetic UI
With a new eye-catching logo, the design portrays a clean look site-wide. It includes a subtle Support Lifeline number placement in the upper-right header for those who have an emergency or need support, making it easy for newcomers to find this information quickly.
The social icons underneath the logo allow users to find their social network pages to share with others or follow the latest news. The menus in the left sidebar are changed up and split into two types: primary and featured.
The right sidebar includes new designs for the "More about Trevor" and "Volunteer for Trevor" blocks and easy ad-placements if any. All of the colors are consistent, and the design matches the theme.
Footer
One of the design and functionality changes is the footer, which is positioned at the bottom of the browser. The logo links to a view listing of corporate sponsors, making it easy for The Trevor Project admin members to add new sponsors with their appropriate logos by creating a new item for content type, selecting the corporate sponsors taxonomy term, and uploading a logo, rather than manually adding this information in an unorganized page.
